International Summer Retreat
This retreat is an opportunity for self-exploration and social interaction in an exciting international environment. The scenic surroundings create a perfect setting for meditation, yoga and stimulating talks and discussions. Long meditations provide thorough relaxation and add depth to the psychological and existential process.

Abundant time for the meditation process
The retreat provides ample opportunity for social contact and for training in meditations up to or above the three-hour level. This provides deeper relaxation, increased contact with life themes, and processing of psychological issues.
The programme includes:
- inspiring seminars on the psychology of meditation
- guidance groups and process groups that resolve challenges from the meditation
- basic instructions in meditative yoga, which makes body and mind more receptive
- walks in beautiful nature and swimming in Lake Randsfjord
- excursion to the internationally renowned Kistefos museum (extra fee)
This is a great opportunity to update your meditation practice, strengthen your meditation habit, and thoroughly recharge your batteries. After the retreat, the effect of daily meditations will increase. The effect of a summer retreat is said to linger on for the rest of the year.
Evening seminars
The retreat includes interactive seminars based on questions from participants. The seminars will resolve challenges from the long meditations and discuss the experience from meditative, psychological, and existential angles. All seminars will be in English.
Halvorsbøle
Halvorsbøle is situated beneath the Onsberget mountain close to the town of Jevnaker, with a gorgeous view of the lake Randsfjorden, splendid walking areas, and a small idyllic beach. All participants are accommodated in single bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The seminar room, dining hall, lounge, and group rooms are of high quality. The place has centuries of history. In the 1990s, the Oslo Accords between Israel and Palestine were negotiated here. For many years, this was the venue of the Norwegian government’s annual budget conferences. A good hour’s drive from Oslo City or Oslo Airport Gardermoen.
Lactovegetarian diet
Halvorsbøle serves delicious lactovegetarian food – good for palate and belly, and great for meditating bodies and minds.
Course language
The course language is English. Guidance groups in Scandinavian may be offered in addition, depending on the number of eligible participants.
Reduced fee for two weeks
You may combine this retreat with the International Deepening Retreat in the following week and pay a discounted fee by registering via the Two-Week International Regular and Deepening Retreat.
For people with ample experience from deepening retreats, Acem also arranges advanced deepening retreats.
