Dealing with negative thoughts - Lessons from meditation and psychology
Of course, we want freedom of thought just as we want freedom of speech. But do we grant our negative thoughts the same freedom as the positive ones? Often, we start struggling with ourselves when thoughts or emotions are experienced as distressing, painful or depressing. Various meditation practices give quite opposite instructions on what to do if bothering thoughts and emotions emerge.
