Torbjorn Hobbel Torbjorn Hobbel (born 1951 in Oslo, Norway) has practised Acem Meditation and yoga since 1967. He has been an instructor of Acem Meditation since 1971 and an initiator since 1975. He is one of ten Acem preceptors and has initiated more than 7000 people into meditation.
Since 1994 he has been working full time in Acem, travelling and conducting courses and meditation retreats in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Great Britain and India. He is Chairman to Acem India, which he founded in 1998.
Mr. Hobbel is a trained communication group leader and an advisor to Acem School of Yoga.
He has co-authored the books Yogaboken (The Book of Yoga) and Practical Guide to Acem Retreats (both with Dr. Are Holen), published a number of articles on Acem Meditation and cultural topics, and been an editor of Acem's quarterly journal Dyade. He also develops web sites for Acem.
Mr. Hobbel has an M.A. from the University of Oslo (1979), specializing in Nordic languages and literatures, history and the history of religion. From 1979 to 1994 he worked as a teacher in various colleges in the Oslo area.
He lives in Oslo, Norway, with his wife Sigrun. They have two children, one daughter and one son.
